Born in Pune, India, on August 26, 1927, Barkrishna Dorsi was a furniture entrepreneur from both grandfathers' generations. His talent for art and understanding of spatial proportion from an early age attracted the attention of a teacher at the school, who began to encourage him to get involved in architecture. 

After India gained independence in 1947, Dorsey began his architectural studies at the Sir J.J. Architecture Institute in Mumbai, the oldest architecture school in India and one of the most authoritative architecture schools in the region. 

Many of dorsey's key moments were born of his ambition and initiative -- from resolutely boarding a ship from India to London, where he dreamed of joining the Royal Institute of British Architects; To offer to work with Le Corbusier in the light of his seniority; To actively participate in the reconstruction of the motherland in the historical trend.
