Yinji: Young designers will surely become the mainstay of future design forces. How did you start your design journey? What are your expectations for your future?
Ji: I am not studying interior related majors, but fashion design, but the homework is done with wire, mud, wood and bricks, because I am not interested in dressing at all. After graduation, I had the honor to talk to the famous fashion designer Liang Mingyu Teacher learning, this experience has a profound impact on my future design. Teacher Liang often receives invitations to design costumes for some large-scale stage plays. We treat the story as a box. A large group of graduate students follow Teacher Liang to brainstorm: thinking about the plot, the stage environment, the character of the characters... Inside, seeing the stage costumes gradually change from nothing to reality. Teacher Liang Mingyu said, "Everyone calls her a costume designer, but she always thinks of herself as a painter, but her drawing paper is a human body, and the paintbrush in her hand It’s all kinds of materials that envelop the human body." Teacher Liang said that every art student may be looking for his ideal paintbrush throughout his life. It’s just that the paintbrush in each person’s hand is a different medium. Since then, I have begun to think about What is a paintbrush? Until a coincidence, I came into contact with space design.
We may be the first group of people to open a home furnishing store on Taobao. Together with a few friends, we designed a batch of furniture and home furnishings. No one taught us how to do it. We just watched it in the furniture factory every day. Wrapped in chalk like walking, I learned how to model furniture, electronic circuits, shoot promotional videos, sponsor sponsorships, and run business... In the end, I didn’t sell one piece of furniture, but got a bunch of pieces. Like fans who don’t shop, and a firm future development direction, the university’s accumulated design foundation, textile material knowledge, "Box Thinking Logic" learned by Teacher Liang Mingyu, I learned when I saw the space knowledge I heard and made furniture when I repaired the design institute Knowledge of furniture, circuit knowledge. In the end I became a sponge. Although I have been in the field of soft decoration design for many years as I wish, I still expect myself to be an "experiencer", a "crossover" with an unfixed identity, so that the design can continue to be fresh and break. Framework, with multiple perspectives.

Yinji: What kind of humanistic characteristics does the city of Chongqing have, and does it affect your design?
Ji: Chongqing is very special! Leaning on the mountains and rivers, eating big oil and spicy, the character is naturally fresh and vigorous, straightforward and stubborn. There is a common saying in the Chongqing dialect, "Molaixu", which means to point directly. Therefore, our design character is also a little bit "Mullian", very clear and direct, and we like designs that have a sense of impact and power.

Yinji: Concerned that you have unique insights in the art of soft furnishings, how do you understand the relationship between soft furnishing design and hard furnishing design? What are your thoughts on the future of soft decoration design?
Ji: I entered this industry as a non-indoor professional, so in my eyes soft outfit and hard outfit are not the two distinct ends. Soft clothing and hard clothing are like the relationship between clothing and models. Tailor clothing, "body" is space, and "clothing" is soft clothing. I used to think they could talk as long as they were in space, but now I think they can talk even if they are not in space. The concept of diversification and cross-border requires me to break down barriers when designing, jump out of the conventional framework to integrate thinking, and each section leverages each other to become sponges, absorb each other and then squeeze out the water.

Yinji: "Space is art" interprets the soul of Yuanhe Daqian. How do you interpret it in your design?
Ji: Yuanhe Daqian is a team driven by "art". We have cooperated with a large number of artists from collaboration to creation to cross-industry play. The seed of "art" in our heart has grown a group of young people who love craft aesthetics for us. My partner, in each of our projects, whether it is furniture or lamps, whether it is a huge sculpture or a small ornament, there will be a feeling of blurred borders. I can't say that one of our objects is an independent work of art. I hope you Think of it as a seed, and the fruits it produces are all its flavor. This is probably the best way to interpret "space is art".

Yinji: Concerned that you pay special attention to the beauty of craftsmanship, can you share with us some of the experience of the whole team in the design process? To
Ji: The "box thinking" of design creation is addictive, and the "hands-on creation" of craftsmanship is also addictive. Maybe this is the brush that Teacher Liang Mingyu said to look for in a lifetime. I like to explore space rather than clothing, but when I feel those fabrics and raw materials, I move my index finger like a switch, sometimes inspired by inspiration, sometimes by hand. Drive inspiration, sometimes it's the inspiration and the impulse to do it together. It feels especially like experimenting and making inventions. Craftsmanship is my "brush" for exploring space. Design should be a product of thought, especially when you find that it is more and more like an economic product, we still hope to create some happiness through the most primitive things, and create something unique and unrepeatable. Art can warm life.
