Athita Hidden Court Chiang Saen Boutique Hotel

Immersed in The culture, traditions and lifestyle of The Chiang Saen people, Athita The Hidden Court Chiang Saen Boutique Hotel in Thailand was built some 700 years ago. The site has been preserved as an important landmark so that people in the community and visitors can come to learn, learn stories and enjoy the history of the area.

The project is located in front of Athi Ton Keao's Temple, which was significant in ancient times. Design Studio Miti researched its area and its history, and they were excited to discover that this area in front of the temple was used for religious ceremonies, which are very important to the people of the community. During the planning phase, the designers created a blank space in front of the temple, a simple design that adds a backdrop to Chiang Saen's house.

A new functional layout was integrated into the design, with a dining room, lobby and nine rooms. The different layouts, including the swimming pool and the building's service areas, are arranged under a slender l-shaped building. By using the front area between the temple and the hotel as an open event space, leaving a certain distance between the hotel and the temple, the design does not obscure the beauty of the temple.

The project chose wood and brick as the main materials, with the aim of creating a harmony in the house's environment. These materials are easy to find locally and learn about the use of masonry and wooden houses. This traditional approach has been developed and applied to all parts of the building, whether it is the "closed" part, the "open space" part, or even the "in between" area.

These historic designs were developed in conjunction with local artisans, who had a very deep understanding of the materials the designers chose to use. The designers used a variety of techniques to recreate and enhance old traditional building methods. Chiang Saen culture peace and tranquillity was created by studying how local materials such as wood and bricks were used. It's a way of conveying the original culture to the tourists who frequent the hotel. The designers wanted to use these facilities to immerse people in history and tranquility, and to feel the presence of Lanna culture in the building.
