A large Victorian terrace house in Sydney, Australia, designed by local interior Design studio Smart Design. Smart Design Studio founder and creative director William Smart has been working with the owners of this large Victorian terrace in Paddington, Sydney, for the past 15 years, so it was natural to design a third project for them.
       The architects were already very clear about what the clients liked, but working on the 285 square metre, five-storey house was also an opportunity to bring in new ideas. The designer's job is to be creative and praise the owner's favorite work. This provides a strong and subtle backdrop to their impressive collection of Australian contemporary art.
       "When I see Lena, What I see is a building where the old and the new are interwoven, and they are as tightly integrated as a hand and a glove. The old remains and the new are joined together in a subtle way. So they're not competing in an alternate environment, "says Smart Design. "For us, this is everything we want in our home for the future," the owners said.
       The house casts a beautiful shadow at certain times of the day, and the living space of the house is the center of the family. Great design can be sensitive, appropriately sized, simple and confident, rather than traditional. In this case, the addition is much smaller than the Victoria Terrace and therefore feels very secondary. Here, the old and the new blend perfectly.
