Eliurpi

ELIURPI Studio, founded in 2010 in Barcelona, Spain, by Elisabet Urpí and Nacho Umpiérrez, is characterized by handmade craftsmanship and romantic hues. With boundless creativity and a passion for art, they draw inspiration from culture, architecture, and contemporary art, creating works that set fashion trends.

Emphasizing craftsmanship, ELIURPI advocates the use of natural fabrics to design both clothing and limited-edition handmade products. In 2023, they participated for the first time in Biennial of Contemporary Catalan Crafts(Visions of Catalonia) presenting original hats as a medium of artistic expression. Their fiber hats and furniture collections exhibit sculptural qualities, simple geometric shapes, and monochromatic tones, blending art, craftsmanship, and architectural forms into an elegant contemporary Bauhaus style.

What was the catalyst for forming your team?

We met in the city of Barcelona, first we were friends later and until now we are partners and form a creative team.

How do you collaborate on your specific work?

Nacho expresses himself artistically with photography and I (Eli) express myself artistically with drawing. All the objects, hats and sculptures are created by the two of us from the beginning. Each one contributes their point of view and is reflected in each of our pieces.

When showing individual products, you always want to present a "scene", is this awareness related to the lifestyle you advocate?

Yes, totally. We are inspired by traditions and culture. For us, creating is part of our life, of our daily life. Since we think and create both in our studio and also in the small moments of the day that we share at home. Those moments that make us share and talk about the ideas that arise.We are currently working with conceptual art. We investigate the transformation of the object as a form.

How have traditional materials, styles and aesthetics inspired your work?

Culture, art and architecture are fundamental bases of our inspiration.

How is architectural or artistic language understood? integrated into your products?

Our shapes have a look that reflects Bauhaus architecture and design. The artistic part provides the idea, the concept behind each ELIURPI object, sculpture, photography and painting.
