In the northern part of the Danish island, just an hour's drive from Copenhagen, there is a popular resort with seaside towns, fishing villages and historic castles. In this secluded location, Norm Architects has completed the interior renovation of Seaside Abode, an existing beachside lodge that allows for leisurely Seaside days, regardless of the season.

Norm Architects blurs the line between interior and exterior by giving priority to natural elements in the interior. Panoramic floor-to-ceiling Windows face spectacular views and bathe the house in natural light. The studio sought to portray "the simple beauty of things related to nature" and for absolute connection ensured that there were subtle differences between the materials in the soil, stone and wood, with green and blue hues interspersed with handmade ceramics and soft linens. These dated and rustic materials ensure the comfort of the residence and move towards understated luxury.

The rustic tones are further reflected in the oak wooden base, bronzed table lamps, Japanese fabric partitions, Piero Lissoni sofas and artwork collected by the owners during their travels abroad. While rich in materials, the home feels as if it blends in with the spectacular landscape, but also has an international awareness of Japanese wabi-sabi style, with custom interior elements that are a feast of tactile and replicas.

Seaside Abode is a combination of Bohemian and Nordic influences, Japanese Zen aesthetics and Danish cottage style charm. Norm Architects designed this unique gathering place in Denmark's 'Sol', which is under the sun, facing the 'seaside', the sea, not only for short vacations, but also for slow living. The design studio's ambition to bring nature into space comes from a desire to reconnect with nature, an ambition shared by many in today's increasingly digital and urbanised world.
