A family home in Glen Iris, Australia, designed by local design studio Borland Architecture. The house is balanced by soft lighting and a minimalist atmosphere, presenting a strong architectural language. The family home, characterised by its durability and permanence, has evolved to adapt to future changes in life. The house is closely connected to the surrounding landscape and is a home noted for its natural beauty and enduring design.
The facades are a bold statement, mirroring its urban environment, with deep recessed windows portraying a sense of grandeur, solidity and balance. Using a minimal palette of materials, Borland Architecture defined and strengthened the features.Internally, large open-plan spaces are zoned to reinforce function and give specific character, yet they flow seamlessly from one space to the next, making the home feel larger than it is.
