Studio Lawahl is an interior design Studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, founded by Joanna Laven. Studio Lawahl and Walgren collaborated on Apartment ST, a late-19th century Stockholm Apartment located on the popular waterfront boulevard Strandvagen. In general, Swedish design is not too fancy and focuses on simplicity and minimalism. These clients prefer interiors, and they have their own definite taste. Because of their busy work schedule, they wanted a space to relax, a space that felt like home.

Before Studio Lawahl and Walgren designed the apartment, it lacked the open social space the client wanted. It has a traditional floor plan and a crowded kitchen. Influenced by elegant French parquet floors and high ceilings, Studio Lawahl and Walgren gave the new space a flowing layout. The end result, which is influenced by Swedish and broadly European design, is a testament to a globalized design culture. However, it is also unique.

The kitchen takes full advantage of brown dolomite and teak. The custom bookshelves in the movie room were designed by Lawahl Studio. Giant speakers are hidden behind wooden planks so they slide to the side when the family sits down to watch a movie. The back of the bookshelf has fabric panels and special absorbent cotton to optimize sound quality. The sofa was redecorated in sheepskin, while the wooden root table, chandelier and floor lamp were all designed by unknown designers. Antiques and bespoke pieces found in the home make a striking and bold interpretation of Scandinavian minimalism.
