Ludwig Godefroy is a Mexico-based architect born in France. His architectural practice constantly moves between these two countries—France, where he was born, and Mexico, where he lives and works. Mexico, in particular, is his main source of inspiration, a place with which he has developed a tender and deeply affectionate bond. In 2011, he established his own studio, Ludwig Godefroy Architecture, in Mexico.Ludwig Godefroy was invited by YINJISPACE, with the theme of "Concordance", On 7.23 (Saturday)10:00~11:00am , the first public class in China was held.

Godefroy favors the word “harmony.” For him, while everyone holds a subjective view of architecture, harmony represents an extraordinary intersection between elements, a source of surprise, and often the starting point of his projects. It is also what makes each work unique, shaped by sensitivity, curiosity, emotions, and history.

In this lecture, under the theme “Harmony,” Ludwig Godefroy shared his understanding of harmony and its significance. By reflecting on the different inspirations he has drawn from France and Mexico, he explained how they manifest in his projects. He described his design language as one that combines natural elements with pyramid-like forms—a fusion of brutalism and naturalism. Through a focus on detail, abstraction, simplicity, and the use of shapes and geometric lines, he seeks to create timeless architecture. Rather than following fleeting trends, his work aspires to endure.
