Balzar Architects is an architectural and interior design firm based in Valencia, Spain, founded by José María in 2018. As a family-run architectural enterprise, it unites two generations, including his son Txema García, who aspired to be an architect at the age of six, and Txema’s partner, Laura Moreno. Together, they manage the studio with the goal of creating human-centric residential architecture.

In this masterclass, Balzar Architects’ co-founders, Laura and Txema, shared their design philosophy and process under the theme Luxury in Architecture. They believe that true luxury lies in simplicity, naturalness, and timeless spaces, rather than in highly materialistic pursuits. According to them, beauty is defined by the combination of form, its proportions, and the materials used in its execution, while functionality must always be the foundation of space.

Balzar Architects emphasizes using natural and imperfect materials to create authentic and sustainable designs. They integrate classical architectural compositions with modern details, use curves to enhance spatial fluidity, and prioritize adjustable lighting solutions for adaptable atmospheres. They also conduct follow-up visits with clients, observing how their designs evolve into personalized homes. For them, innovation in architecture requires constant exploration, collaboration with passionate craftsmen, and an openness to learning from challenges, ultimately creating unique and irreplaceable architectural works.
