Richards & Spence is an architecture and interior design studio based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, founded in 2018 by founders Ingrid Richards and Adrian Spence. Since its inception, the studio has been committed to creating beautiful, livable urban Spaces within Brisbane and the wider Queensland landscape. Its projects are sophisticated, stylish and suited to the Queensland climate. Although Brisbane is a relatively small city, Richards & Spence's architecture is inspiring on the world stage.

Ingrid Richards grew up in Upper Brookfield, Brisbane, where she attended a local primary school with only 30 pupils. As she grew older, she became more interested in art and wanted to pursue a career with a social conscience. It wasn't until a friend of hers started studying architecture that she became interested and decided to enroll in the course. While working at Cox Rayner Architects, she met a like-minded architect, Adrian Spence.

Ingrid Richards recalls the experience of starting Richards & Spence as a big change. "I love my job and I've been there for 10 years, but I think in a way it seems like the logical thing to do and it's hard to imagine not doing it with Adrian Spence. Working with someone you love can seem like a challenge, but it's natural for both of you." Ingrid Richards said. Architecture is so closely intertwined with their lives that there is little difference between home and work. But Ingrid Richards explains that it is their shared perspectives and experiences about work and travel that make them work well together.

From residential to retail and hotel, Richards & Spence brings a calm, modernist quality to its projects, often using bricks to produce stunning results. Ingrid Richards describes the studio's signature style as "gentle bestiality".
