Moscow Modern Apartment

Interiors Houses Moscow 2024-01-02

The owner of the apartment is a young man who conducts business in several countries simultaneously. He approached the designer with a request to create a modern interior for an apartment in a newly constructed building in the center of Moscow. In this project, the designer quickly determined that they needed to create a concise, bright space with unique furniture pieces and expressive artwork.

It should be noted that the two-level apartment with a double-height space and a mansard ceiling on the second floor made an indelible impression not only on the client, but on me as well. For example, massive beams crossing the main space usually do not evoke enthusiasm among designers, but here they were so expressive and interesting that they were perceived more as interior decorations.

Well Done Interiors arranged the apartment with the perspective of accommodating several people in the future. We partially removed the ceilings between the first and second levels, increasing the apartment's area to 210 square meters. One of the most important tasks was the placement and selection of the type of staircase. After trying out all the options, the designer settled on a spiral staircase, which became not only a necessary link between the two floors, but also a full-fledged sculpture and dominant feature of the living room interior.

On the first level, there is a common area with a kitchen-dining room and living room, an office, a guest bathroom, a laundry room, and a guest bedroom block with its own wardrobe and bathroom. The attic floor houses the master suite, consisting of a bedroom, a large walk-in closet, and a bathroom. The main art object in this interior became Eric Musin's color-changing light work. Millions of different shades color the master bedroom and change its mood from bold and lively to peaceful and delicate. This looks particularly impressive at twilight.

The client wanted simplicity not only in the finish, but also in all decisions, except for engineering ones. We decided to forgo decorative lighting and opted for soft diffused light embedded in niches. The main expressive technique in this project was the architecture of forms. Thanks to the fact that the walls and ceiling are painted in the same color, there is a feeling of being inside a large paper sculpture.
