Located in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, this 1970s home draws on the era’s eclectic style through a future-focused perspective. Studio &Space founder and designer Maike Borst was tasked with the design evolution, taking an approach centred on creating‘authentic spaces that connects you with the things you truly care about’.Through the renovation process, an interactive client-designer rapport was established between Maike and the fashion-forward homeowner to bring this tranquil family abode to life.

The firm stripped back and repositioned key areas to maximise space and reflect how the family lives. Low, textural ceilings convey a sense of intimacy, while an open floorplan and Frammenta floor tiles create a sense of flow.The back of the residence now opens to the rear garden,with added windows and roof cabins that bring natural light into the children’s rooms.

True to this era, the homeowner’s ‘favourite corner’ is a sunken lounge featuring tribal patterns and antique pieces. Studio &Space also injected hints of glamour that reflect the homeowner, such as the iconic Ultrafragola mirror and the Mario Bellini Chiara F lamp.  Maike notes the central island bench’s ‘sexy curves’, made from warm elkwood, anchor the home’s kitchen and accentuate its eclectic personality.
