If eyewear in the past was consumed primarily for vision correction, today it has come to be recognized as a small fashion item that expresses one's identity, shifting the direction of the eyewear market as a whole. Following Suwon, the second location—STREAM EYEWEAR Unjeong—breaks away from the conventional image of an “optical shop” redefines STREAM's brand presence, and unfolds with a narrative unique to Unjeong. Unjeong in Paju is geographically prone to fog. Fog blurs and obscures both shape and atmosphere—unsettling and unpredictable at times, yet also freeing. Likewise, vision can feel frustrating when unclear, yet liberating the moment it becomes sharp again. We interpret this duality through the concept “EXPLORE RHYTHMS”, creating a space of exploration where one opens their senses within an imperfect flow.
Like walking through fog, or seeking clarity within blurred sight, clusters of masses are dispersed at the center of the space. Visitors move between these masses, discovering products that suit them, trying them on, lingering, and exploring the space. The central masses interlock in subtly misaligned ways, reflecting the ambiguous nature of fog—less stable and more imperfect in form—while each mass is expressed differently. This irregular spatial language extends to the wall surfaces, adding depth and dimensionality through material treatment.
If the central display furniture conveys the spatial identity in a sculptural manner, the wall surfaces express the layered quality of fog through minimal forms and subtle detailing. Instead of spotlighting products directly, the lighting softly illuminates between shelves and walls, shaping the hazy atmosphere of fog. Strategically placed mirrors naturally divide the space into sections for brand display, while differentiated shelving details allow customers to browse comfortably.
Taking advantage of the high ceiling on the first floor, the ceiling is left exposed and paired with minimalist custom pendants to bring order to the irregular forms beneath. A grayish color palette and metallic materials evoke the image of fog, while blue-toned central furniture adds vibrancy to the space. Within these gray tones, Spacial Paint and Ceramic Panels introduce material depth, and Vibration + mirror-finish stainless steel heightens spatial density. In contrast, blue-toned wood veneer and colored satin acrylic on the central fixtures soften the coolness and create a casual balance.
The façade is not designed to attract visitors solely through signage or elevation but to allow the interior to be perceived directly from the outside. To achieve this, the façade language is kept minimal, letting the tone and structure of the interior become the façade itself. Through the Unjeong store, we invite customers to experience the sensibilities and attitude that STREAM embodies, allowing the brand to linger as part of their everyday lives.
