Note has once again collaborated with Stockholm-based digital technology consultancy Samsen.  For their second location in the Swedish capital, the brief was to create a modern space that could support effective working in this new post-pandemic world.

Honouring Samsen’s commitment to designing work around what matters to their employees, the studio helped them establish an environment that would lure people back to the workplace to focus, share ideas and connect with colleagues. Even those who spend many hours a day sitting in front of a computer should enjoy a positive experience.

The idea of home became central to our design approach. The Domus has the feeling of a classic apartment—complete with a combined library and living room, a kitchen, and a large workspace where two big tables were custom-made to offer a welcome alternative to the individual desks you normally find in corporate settings. In this thoughtful interior, the functionality of a typical office is fused with the relaxed and homely feel of an old-fashioned apartment.

The inviting hues from our previous collaboration on Samsen Atelier were again employed to build a sense of recognition between the two spaces, but where dark brown features heavily in the Atelier, here brighter tones are used on the walls. This enlivened colour palette including an accent of poppy orange is designed to support people’s ability to stay alert and focused.

If they’re seeking some quiet time, employees can move from the bright open room in which the working tables are positioned and step into the calm sanctuary of the library. The ceiling and walls are painted in a darker colour, paired with elements of wood and warm finishes. Built-in and open bookshelves provide ample space for personal items and magazines and ensure the room is cosy and intimate whether its occupants are busy thinking or relaxing.
