Norm Architects has completed an interior renovation of the Sandbjerg Residence, a private Residence in north Copenhagen that combines the charm of a country house with modern sophistication. The house is located in an idyllic landscape in the north of Zeeland, Denmark, surrounded by grass and forest, and is privately nestled in a corner of trees that open onto a park-like garden, bringing light and air to the house.

The exterior of the house is a nod to a traditional Danish country house, featuring matte rendered taupe facades, paned Windows, thatched roofs and granite Settings, all using the finest local natural materials.

The interior of the house consists of warm, balanced Spaces and rough surface textures, as well as carefully embedded and customized details. The overall ambience and colour scheme of the exterior is translated into the interior through a palette of original tactile materials such as wood, stone, natural fibre textiles and leather, which dominate the open Spaces of the house and combine the charm of the farmhouse with a distinctive refined and elegant sculptural style.
