Located in the heart of Copenhagen’s Brodgade, the new joint showroom for Danish cabinetmaker Kolon and lighting company Anour has been thoughtfully designed as a calm, tactile space celebrating local craftsmanship and material honesty. The interior unfolds in a palette of warm neutrals and natural textures – from oak and walnut to brushed metal and softly colored textiles – forming a serene backdrop for the furniture and lighting on display. Gentle contrasts between light and shadow, solid and void, lend the space a quiet rhythm that invites reflection and dialogue.

Upon entering the showroom, visitors are met with a quiet sense of balance and restraint. Soft light filters through sheer curtains, diffusing across textured walls and finely brushed timber surfaces. Bespoke details and textile materials introduce a subtle warmth, while the pared-back composition of furniture and lighting creates a serene atmosphere. Among the bespoke pieces designed for the showroom are two furniture designs set to enter production with Kolon. The pieces draw on Kolon’s certified supply chain – their architectural form balancing weight and lightness through precise proportions and honest materials. Rooted in a craft-built tradition, they reflect a tranquil, yet familiar design language shared by Norm Architects and Kolon.

Conceived as both a working environment and a gallery, the showroom offers a setting to experience materials and solutions at full scale, and to engage in meaningful conversations about interior and lighting. A large round table with a soft leather top becomes a natural point of gathering. Crafted with attention to properties and materiality, it functions as both a working surface and a sculptural gesture. The textile feature adds warmth and a soft tactility, softening the atmosphere and inviting touch.

At the back of the showroom, a lounge and coffee station serve as both a functional workspace and a quiet display of materials. Designed in light oak to reflect the limited natural light, the unit is positioned out of sightlines in the space while providing a tactile backdrop for increasingly complex and smaller objects. A roughly stone island outlines the composition, grounding the room with a sense of solidity and calm.
