
Shiroiya Hotel Macha Tei
"Machatei" designed by the New Materials Research Institute, led by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and architect Tomoyuki Sakakida, is a private dinner set up in the "Shiraiya Hotel" opened in Maebashi, Gunma.
It is a special private room used for. The name "Matcha-tei" comes from the concept of embodying the true matcha brown that resonates with the color, inspired by the green wall of the tea room that was relocated inside the hotel.
Also, the matcha and the planting of the exterior of the building In response to this, their used laminated glass with split skin for the façade as a material that sometimes assimilates while insisting. The 19 mm thick float glass is made by manually splitting the edges to create unevenness on the surface. It was polished and laminated with the edges aligned.
Along with matcha, the flow of water has become an important design keyword. At one end of the counter made of ground cedar, a stone standing water used as a wine cooler was placed. The top plate of ground cedar looks like the flow of water flowing from the chozubachi and the spread of ripples.
