China's First Supermodel Li Xin Home

Her name may not be well known, but she was one of the top supermodels in the world. Now she has shed the glitz of the fashion world to devote herself to the art field and become the representative of elite women. She is Li Xin, the first generation of Chinese supermodel. Born in Changchun, Jilin province, northeast China, Li Grew up in a sports family. She wanted to be a national basketball player under her father's expectation since childhood, but later she became a model. She broke into international fashion and is now Christie's Asia Pacific executive. "I didn't start very high, or I started from scratch; If nothing is done, nothing is lost." – Li Xin
In 2016, Li married her husband Lyor Cohen, who was the global President of Warner Music before being named YouTube's global music leader in 2016. The two live in a long Island vacation home not far from New York City, which perfectly illustrates their understanding of fine living and poetic living.
The house was inspired by Lyor Cohen's two interesting trips. It was in Japan that he learned about the local craft of burning cedar boards, which explains why the facade of the house is black. "Combustion is like a natural sealant, and black is nature's least conspicuous colour. We want the house to disappear into the landscape." Cohen said. The second inspiration was a snow train trip from Zurich to St Moritz, during which he found himself mesmerised by the scenery, "so I wanted the warmth and comfort of a ski chalet, too."
He hired Marc Turkel, a designer from Leroy Street Studio in New York, to help him come up with the idea. The facade of the house is made up of Burnt fir planks by Delta Millworks, which seem to disappear into the landscape. Xin Li sits outside on the sunken patio, one of her and her husband's favorite areas. When asked which corner he liked best, Cohen answered outside. They watch the sunset outside every day, and the terrace is like a stage, sitting there waiting for nature to perform." And to Li Xin, make this home, present the individual character with the truest her and husband, coagulate their painstaking efforts. "It's a very harmonious process of discovering each other."
Every summer weekend, Li and her husband, Lyor Cohen, spend time at this Japanese Zen and Swiss chalet-style home in Noyack Bay, Long Island. In their eyes, this villa with the wind from the sea has the most beautiful sunset in the world. Even their nuptials were accompanied by a sunset, during which torrential rain fell and calm returned to the sky, and nature surprised the wedding like a magician. "The sun, wind, and especially rain, all symbolize good luck in traditional Chinese culture, and all three come at the right time," Li recalls. It is an extraordinary privilege to be at home and to see one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, and I often remind myself to be grateful for the good fortune and beauty around me."
“"I go to work with joy every day, and art has come into my life so completely that I have a light heart." Xin Li is sitting in her living room on a vintage chair bought at a Paris flea market. Lyor Cohen wanted every room to have Windows, bringing in the natural beauty of the outdoors. The KUKKAPURO lounge chair adds to the ambience of the holiday.
In the living room, works from the Bruce High Quality Foundation hang over a sofa with fabric cushions from Kirkby Design from ROMO and small striped pillows from Chris Barrett of Holland & Sherry. At the front is a custom oak cocktail table with Edelman leather overlay. The dining area is also decorated with burnt fir wood, next to the blue Edelman leather seat. Italian chandeliers from the 1970s hang from the ceiling; The dining chair is Martin Eisler.
Enter their home, can discover the life style with true exquisite does not depend on dimensional luxuriant, and depend on host to the understanding of the life. "I didn't know the definition of refinement until I was 47," Cohen says. When you have the ability to add more elements, but you can resist the urge to subtract from life, that's exquisite!" This insight, he says, comes from many life experiences, such as Delphine Arnault's invitation to visit a Bordeaux winery and his observation that the finest vineyards in the world are simply decorated; And Beyonce's 40th birthday party for Jay-Z in the Dominican Republic, with just a few dozen guests on board... Li agrees with her husband, adding: "When you have something you really want, you say no to the things that don't harmonize around you."
