The Fungi Kingdom

Tiro Federal Argentino is an architectural artwork built in 1937. This building has been protected by law in 2005 and declared as a National Historic Monument. This remarkable entrance hall of a 1937 rationalist building in Buenos Aires has been changed by our Studio into a place designed to gathering unlimited possibilities where science, nature and creativity may meet. Basic contemplating and lodging geometry through attractive linear and circular structures: design, art, nature and simplicity.

The layout respects the space centrality and stems from an ethereal circular element supported by a central column. White metal has been used for the whole work. Gargoyles, Black Pearl species, pink and golden Gargoyles, Pioppino and Ganoderma Lucidum grow inside the circular aerial structure in an environment governed by light and moisture. 100 white concrete VANKA benches, model Yembe and fungus morphology, linked to one another by oven-painted white metal plates enabling a supportive structure, spreading and branching as mycelia creating A SPACE FOR CONTEMPLATION.

and art in organic sculptures by Florencia Echevarria (Ungallery). Painting of all ancient and new spaces is ALBA"Blanco Quirúrgico" (Surgical White) abiding by the rationalist aesthetics. The granitic floor, marble "boiserie" and stairway are kept original and polished for the occasion.

The Central Metal Installation shall be recycled after the Exhibition in games for children in a public square. The objective is to develop a meeting place with an aim to make people know natural and biodegradable materials as well as mycelia potential use in DESIGN. It shows the infinite source of inspiration granted by nature, both aesthetically and structurally. The overall mycelium structure has a sacred sensation, a metaphor to undertake  new ideas when designing spaces.

FUNGI KINGDOM is a conceptual statement dealing with ecological and evolutionary thinking about life, living beings and the Fungi Kingdom. "The way the human beings are connected to  objects and space surrounding us". It aims at exploring a world where human activity, art, culture and action are mutually dependent and thereby benefiting all ecosystems health.
