The Method at Westbourne Grove - a wellness destination launching in the heart of Notting Hill, offering dynamic new class concepts, a curated cafe space by Nathalie offering organic health-focused fare, plus a unique retail environment and community space. The brand promotes fitness through fun, creating safe spaces to try something new, and providing a holistic lifestyle approach.

To reflect The Method’s ethos of encouraging each client to explore and elevate their fitness journey, House of Grey’s design aims to create a new narrative framework for movement spaces—one that meets individual needs both in the short and long term.

The cafe and dance studio flow organically, unified with an undulating wall running through the space from front to back. Using natural eco-cement and lime plaster, floors and walls have a tactile matte, textured finish, combined with areas of rough plaster and gloss ceilings in the same warm hue, providing depth and variation.

Additionally, in-built stainless-steel tables just big enough to rest a book or laptop to encourage casual connections – or a place to wind down, download, or take a moment to self-regulate – while coming in or out of class.High ceilings (a soaring 3.4m) offer a relaxing ‘spatial exhale’ as visitors emerge from the studio.

Washrooms / Changing Rooms - Soft curving walls, continuous finishes and integrated lighting providing a sanctuary-like feel.Seamlessly integrated colour-changing LED lighting allows the space to transform from a calm, contemplative environment to a dynamic, high-energy space when desired.

Aligned to The Method’s mantra of providing the most appropriate and appealing form of fitness for the individual every time (whether it’s for that day, week or life stage), this project was driven conceptually by the notion of following a personal flow.

Instead of focussing on each space (studio, café, shop) as a separate component we approached the design as a series of carefully curated and always ongoing energetic moments and exchanges.

Mood-enhancements matter. The beating heart of the destination is the design studio, a place to “move, dance, sweat and stretch” which has been created to flex to the diverse variety of dance classes and instructors that the space hosts on a daily basis.
