Avgvst, a flagship concrete jewelry store in St. Petersburg, Russia, designed by Crosby Studios, an American interior design studio. Inspired by iconic modernist works such as Le Corbusier's Notre Dame cathedral and the flowing silhouette of the Savoy vase in Alvar Aalto, the interior is an oasis of minimalism.
The concrete floor, walls and ceiling form a small but striking backdrop to the volume, whether in matching grey or contrasting bright yellow. Winding from corner to corner, it connects three parts -- the front desk, the retail space, and a comfortable break in between the shopping frenzy, a mature cafe. Apparently, Nuriev also designed the cafe environment, but that's not all, as his signature is also on the cutlery. Interestingly, the Avgvst concept has another unexpected feature that marries itself with modern urban culture: a permanent perforation and tattoo studio hidden behind secret doors.
