Originally from Colombia and based in Florida, Marcela Cure is an interior designer and artist. Known for her eclectic, upbeat, and Latin-rooted interpretations of contemporary design, she also creates collectible design objects, custom furniture and decor. The style is contemporary and the home sits on a large lot with beautifully landscaped grounds. It has an outdoor area with a pool and lush greenery that creates a serene, inviting atmosphere. “My design approach focused on enhancing the connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring that the elegance and functionality of the interior matched the beauty of the exterior,” says Marcela Cure.
This home is owned by a couple who treat it as almost their primary residence, even though it’s technically their second home. They spend most of their time here and love to host gatherings with their children and grandchildren, who visit frequently. The house really functions as a hub for the whole family—a place for everyone to come together and enjoy time in a serene, comfortable setting.
Many of the pieces in this home were custom-made specifically for this project to ensure a seamless fit and a refined, cohesive atmosphere. Entry: it features an oversized custom leather mirror that makes a striking first impression, paired with an elegant onyx console. Wall sconces by Apparatus add a sophisticated touch of architectural lighting, setting the tone for the refined atmosphere throughout the home.
Living Area: it includes B&B Italia sofas, anchored by Charles Zana’s Warton side chairs and softened by a hand-knotted CC Tapis rug. Lighting elements by Apparatus, Baxter, and In Common With punctuate the space. A custom leather and wood sideboard add tactile, tailored accents that make the space feel truly curated.
Kitchen and dining areas: Luteca’s Eugenio chairs and Spoleto seating by Knoll introduce clean lines and timeless silhouettes. A custom dining room buffet in wood with liquid metal door fronts and a statement walnut bookshelf add character and function. An outdoor kitchen was also custom-made to fit the space perfectly, featuring stone cabinetry and stainless steel appliances that complement the home’s elegance and practicality.
Bedrooms: Across the bedrooms, thoughtful layers come through in textured wallpapers and custom-selected rugs by Beni Rugs and Soho Home. Furniture pieces introduce clean lines and sculptural forms, while carefully chosen lighting adds a warm, architectural glow. Artwork completes each space with a quiet, graphic elegance that feels curated and personal.
Bathrooms: In the social bath, a sculptural mirror and custom stone and brass vanity anchor the space with graphic simplicity, complemented by Vera Sconces light fixtures from In Common With. Accessories by Graff and Duravit add a clean, understated elegance. In the guest room’s bathroom, a mirror and sink pairing evokes classic proportions, while a Soho Home lamp casts a warm, ambient glow. Select hardware and fittings by Kohler and Brizo lend a refined consistency throughout.
