Casa Cañada was built in 2024 for a young family looking for a home that would accompany them through the different stages of their lives, with the natural environment as the visual and emotional focus of the project. The interior design by Espacio Tangible took on the challenge of respecting and amplifying the architecture of Taller Héctor Barroso, enhancing the heights, luminosity and constant connection with nature. The intention of the project is to create an atmosphere of serenity and comfort, where light and materials interact organically with the environment, and each space invites you to live life to the fullest.
Casa Cañada is organised around a central courtyard that leads to the stairs, making vertical circulation the protagonist of the main entrance. On the ground floor, the living room, dining room and kitchen open completely onto a small garden that acts as a natural extension of the interior. This gesture consolidates the intention of the project, integrating the exterior and interior in a harmonious way and allowing vegetation and light to filter gently into each space.
The interior design of the house acts as an invitation to conviviality and enjoyment. The furniture creates spaces where everything is connected visually and emotionally, encouraging movement and closeness. Each piece was selected with a specific intention: to be used and enjoyed freely. A curved armchair breaks with the rigidity of straight lines. Each piece of furniture is designed for family life and the different dynamics of those who inhabit it: having a coffee in the armchair, watching the garden while sitting on the floor, lying down in the living room on any given Tuesday, or sharing an impromptu meal.
No space is reserved for a single occasion; the living room is not just for guests, nor is the dining room only for large gatherings. Everything can be transformed according to the moment and the desire to inhabit it. The heart of the social area is marked by a large bookcase, waiting to be filled with memories, books, and objects with history. The intention was always to give the home a soul, inviting those who live there to take ownership of the space, enjoy it, and make it their own every day.
On the entrance level, the family room and master bedroom face the views of the ravine, while on the upper floor, two additional bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows frame the landscape and extend the connection with the natural environment. But the meaning of Casa Cañada is also accentuated in its materiality. Linen, solid wood, marble, quartzite and natural fibres were used in their purest form, capturing the changing light of the day and accentuating the warmth of the home. The textures, earth tones and honest surfaces invite you to take off your shoes and feel the living material under your feet.
At Casa Cañada, the interior design and architecture interweave to create spaces that are not only explored but also evolve with those who inhabit them. Each space is designed to adapt to different family dynamics, open to multiple ways of living. The result is a functional and warm home, connected to light, landscape and everyday life.
